FRIED DOUGH

Fried dough, a simple but delicious dessert that is made with ingredients that are in everyones home

Ingredients

2 ½ cups of all purpose flour

1 cup water

½ tsp salt

Dry yeast (9grs)

Directions

Put the flour in a bowl and make a hole in the middle

Add the water there and the yeast in the water

Add the salt to the flour

Start stirring slowly and gathering the flour into the middle until all the flour is gone and it forms into a soft dough that doesn’t stick to your hands

Add a sprinkle of flour if still sticky

Let it rest for about 1 hour in a warm place in order for the dough to rise and double in size

When the dough is ready divide into small portions about 12-15 and press so that they are round and thin

Fry in hot oil on medium heat

Turning often until they get a golden color, the dough will double in size as they are frying

Place on paper towel for excess oil

Served with honey and cinnamon or sugar

** you may also add feta cheese right before you divide into portions
